Find Your Purpose the YMCA of Metro Chicago is now hiring a part-time Teen REACH Program Coordinator!

The Teen REACH Program Coordinator will implement curriculum, supervise staff, and order supplies necessary to operate Kelly Hall YMCA teen programming. Teen REACH (Responsibility, Education, Achievement, Caring, and Hope) is a comprehensive youth development initiative that provides after school program services to high-risk youth up to age 17. Teen REACH provides a safe environment with caring adult role models that will work with youth to increase academic achievement and develop the life skills necessary for future success.

Salary starts at $18.50 per hour

The Teen REACH Program Coordinator will be responsible for recruitment, programming and curriculum as set forth in the Teen Reach Program Standards. This person will also assist with the After School Matters program portfolio.

Scopes and Responsibilities

  • Create awareness and recruit pre-teens, teens and teens at area middle schools and high schools to the program
  • Implement teen program curriculum with quality and fidelity according to YMCA and program standards.
  • Maintain data and documentation on Teen Reach and After School Matters programming to meet program standards and funding requirements. Maintains and audits program files in conjunction with supervisor.
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining community partnerships and linkages which support programming and recruitment
  • Coordinates special events and speakers' series.
  • Participates in marketing and promotional activities

Minimum and Preferred Requirements

  • Passion and commitment to the YMCA's mission and vision and serving at-risk youth.
  • Must be at least 21 years or age and/or 5 years older than the oldest child that participates in the program.
  • Associates degree in related field and/or prior experience in working with youth and teens.
  • Ability to effectively implement program curriculum with quality and fidelity.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement in interactions and program activities.
  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities and effectively organize work activities

Child Abuse Prevention - Supports the YMCA's commitment to child abuse prevention by:

  • Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor
  • Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children
  • Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor
  • Completing all child abuse prevention training as required
